Enchanted Leaves Cu Electroforming Kit Review

Copper Electroforming kits are are few and far between, with some kits not coming with enough and other kits coming with things you don’t need, it’s fair to say that the Cu Electroforming Kit by Enchanted Leaves comes with everything you need to begin making copper electroformed jewelry. You can make getting started easy with just one click (without that dreaded thought of “am I forgetting anything?”). Nedda and Aaron were kind enough to send me their electroforming kit plus their Cu MiniForm Power Supply that they designed and manufacturer themselves, FINALLY, a power supply specifically designed for electroformers by electroformers!

Enchanted Leaves offers the kit with or without their power supply which is great in case you already have a power supply. They currently ship to the Contiguous USA and Canada (excluding Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico, as well as APO and PO boxes)

About the Cu MiniForm Power Supply

Cu MiniForm Power Supply.png

This awesome compact power supply is just 3.25 x 2.5 x .5 inches and has an amperage output range of 0.1 - 1.0 amp. Designed and manufactured by Nedda and Aaron at Enchanted Leaves, they say it’s an “easy to use "plug and play" device that is great for beginners!” and that it “takes the guesswork out of fiddling with a clunky bench power supply.” We can all appreciate not having to deal with those big power supplies. I myself have gone through 3 power supplies. They start acting up and it’s hard to troubleshoot them.

This power supply has just 3 buttons, one to turn it on and off and the other two to adjust the amp output. This power supply comes with your negative and positive lead wires with alligator clips as well as a wall plug.

Other Electroforming Supplies and Kit Refills

You can also purchase most of these supplies separately on their website such as their copper electroforming solution, graphite conductive paint, lacquer, copper coil anodes, as well as their Cu Mini Power Supply.

Glass Anchoring Kit

They also sent me their Glass Anchoring Kit for anchoring lightweight items such as acorns and leaves. When I unboxed this kit, which includes a glass washer and clear nylon wire, I was so confused as to what it was. Then I read the instructions and I thought how clever, no one sells this super unique item. The making of handmade copper electroformed objects is still such a niche industry and I love that Enchanted Leaves is filling these much-needed gaps in our market.

I will be putting this kit to the test in the form of a copper electroforming tutorial in my next post so be sure to join the Maker Mob to be notified of when that post comes out!

Tutorial

Enchanted Leaves has also put out an in-depth tutorial on copper electroforming, what it is, the science behind it, and how to copper electroform your own objects. You can check out their tutorial here.

Summary

What I Love

This kit comes with all the bells and whistles! You can have peace of mind knowing you have everything you need to begin copper electroforming. Not only that, this kit is curated and designed by electroforming artists so they know the best materials and supplies to use. Rather than spending hours researching and sourcing each individual item, oftentimes from multiple retailers, you can just make a single purchase and have everything dropped off at your doorstep.

What I Don’t Like

One thing I feel this kit could be missing is some 2 part epoxy. Now, this isn’t something you need to begin with, but that depends on what you’re electroforming. I’ve noticed this kit is heavily marketed toward copper electroforming organic materials like acorns, and for that, you absolutely do not need a 2 part epoxy. But if you want to use this kit to electroform crystal jewelry then you’ll certainly be lacking the 2 part epoxy. But at the cost of adding the epoxy, this kit really goes far in terms of having everything you need to start making copper electroformed jewelry and I can’t say that for any other kit on the market.

Bottom Line

If you’ve been thinking about getting into copper electroforming I highly recommend this kit. The price is great, they offer tutorials and instruction manuals to help guide you through using the kit. You can’t go wrong with buying this kit, think of it as a Christmas gift to yourself! You’ll be so glad you did!

Don’t forget to pre-order your kit while supplies last, like I said earlier, they sold out of their last run of these kits so don’t say I didn’t warn ya! Be sure to join their mailing list to be notified of new kit releases and more!
